The Room is Yours

A meeting leadership and facilitation workshop for people who run the sessions other people's careers depend on — and are tired of watching them drift.

The Room is Yours: Meeting Leadership & Facilitation

Most meetings aren't broken because people don't care. They're broken because no one is deliberately leading them. Someone opens the laptop, shares the agenda, and then hopes the next 60 minutes produce something useful. They usually don't.

The Room is Yours treats running a meeting as a discipline — one with visible structure, specific techniques, and enough flexibility to handle the moment someone goes off-piste. It's for people who regularly facilitate cross-functional sessions, client workshops, offsites, or leadership reviews, and want those rooms to produce decisions, not just conversation.

“Matt worked with us at the European Commission to moderate complex discussions from the Young Leaders of Industry Forum. With humour, charisma and enthusiasm, he helped guide the discussions perfectly whilst keeping to strict time restraints.”

What participants say

More from the room

Our leadership offsite used to produce energy but no decisions. After this workshop, our cadence of meetings changed completely.

I've facilitated hundreds of sessions. Matt showed me the two specific things I was getting wrong that undermined everything else.

Frequently asked questions

Our problem is too many meetings, not bad meetings. Does this help?

Yes — often the two problems are the same. Teams that learn to run fewer, sharper meetings usually find that the calendar clears. Part of the workshop is knowing when a meeting shouldn't happen at all.

Is this about design-sprint style facilitation?

It covers those techniques but isn't limited to them. Most participants spend more time on recurring business meetings and one-off stakeholder sessions than on full-week sprints, so we weight the workshop accordingly.

Does this apply to fully remote teams?

Yes — we run a version explicitly for hybrid and remote. Many of the core facilitation moves translate, but the mechanics (turn-taking, silence, shared artefacts) need to be engineered differently online.

What if different participants need different things?

Most groups do. We pre-work with the team to segment needs and tailor the live practice so team leads work on leadership meetings, consultants work on client sessions, etc.

Will participants leave with templates they can reuse?

Yes — including meeting structures, decision-closing scripts, a facilitator's cheat sheet, and a workshop-design canvas. The aim is that next Monday's meeting is already better.
